Newbie Here

big big big huge fan of dali, glad to see there is a tribe for all passions...

Had the pleasure of visiting one of his museums in paris... spent all day there, obviously.

Contributed one of my new favorites i found on a dali website, it is called Masked Mermaid in Black, 1939... hope you all like.

I have always been a big fan of 'One second before waking from a dream...', used to have it up in my place but, the more i moved the more it got wrecked... the only one i have now is called Metamorphosis of Narcissus, and it is the classic (if you are very familliar with dali) one with fingers holding a sprouting egg and on the left is the same form, only it is a kneeling crouched man...

Anybody know exactly what drugs he was doing towards the end?

I would like to think that Dali had a fondness for the only drug (besides caffeine) I ever liked, hallucinogenic mushrooms. I've given up on them, though, since I've read that they might do some real brain damage!

he must of done some (lots) of acid, i think the name of the painting was "the mounts of cape creus on the march" but its attributed to lsd in a couple of books i own.

oh sorry and for drugs he was taking near the end im not sure. i see alot of his stuff being a little less drug induced, alot of stuff with the holy trinity and jesus. i always felt like the paintings were a big sigh of relief compared to alot of the inner angst that you see earlier on

for some reason i thought i read that dali never use drugs. i did read that to help induce his "visions", he would close his eyes tight and push on his eyeballs.
do you guys see colors when you do that? i do....

yeah ive heard (on gallery tours in different museums/exhibits) and read the same thing- that he didnt use drugs- and some of his famous quotes include:

everyone should eat hashish, but only once.
I never did drugs because I am drugs.
Take me, I am the drug; take me, I am hallucinogenic
Why do you need LSD, when you have Salvador Dalỉ? (apparently he wrote this to timothy leary)

of course it is possible that these could have been taken out of context or he could have changed his ways over the years and experimented more...

              anyone know?

he totally is the personification of LSD, it plays with those parts of your mind.
